It's a....

Girl!
We are so excited to be having a girl. Already having one of each - I really didn't mind either way. But this whole time I couldn't imagine her being anything other than a sweet little girl - and she is. Well, in reality she'll probably be a sweet BIG girl.
Can't wait to meet her.

Baby Swaddler

It feels so good to be finishing things off. I made this a while ago but only got to sewing in the velcro today.
This pattern was so easy. And a fast sew. Can't wait to snuggle my bubby up in it.
Pattern from here
Fabric is from Heather Ross's Briar Rose collection called Calico in Brown. You can find it here if you're looking.
Next up - the nappy bag. I'm giving myself a week to make it.
Tomorrow I'm heading in for an ultrasound and hoping to find out the sex of the baby. I can't wait.

Have an awesome week,

Bubby's quilt

Well I finished. Thankfully. Disappointed that I couldn't turn out something a little more special - maybe later. I just don't have it in me at the moment.
Maybe after we confirm if it is a girl or a boy - then I might be into it a bit more.
I need to take a little break from sewing for the weekend - my shoulders are killing me. But I definitely want to make the diaper bag next week. Really excited to make that!!

Have an awesome weekend

Crushing

Most of my thoughts are on bubby and bubby related stuff. Making....buying.
First on my list - these blankets - Aren't they delicious?
Thinking that if I want to save some dollars I might need to learn to crochet.

And this little blanket. So soft and pretty
And this is absolutely darling. So cute! Yes I definitely need to gain some crochet skills!!
And I want to make these. Adorable! I could probably manage these!

Oh well - back to unpicking for me today.
Happy Thursday

Bubby's first quilt top

If bubby is a girl, that is. At the moment we are assuming that is the case.
It might be different come Monday after my scan.
I might need to dig into my stash for some blue fabrics.
Anyway - back to this quilt. I actually went to find out the fabrics for the diaper bag and got totally sidetracked when I came across some leftover 8 inch squares from a previous quilt I had made. So I pulled out some more fabrics and cut some more squares and pretty soon had a basic quilt top.
Yesterday I pieced together a back for it. Only problem now is that I don't have enough batting. So I'm going to unpick a row from each side (that will be fun) and I should have enough batting to make it. That will be a job for tomorrow.

If I plod along - doing a little each day - I just might get some things finished.
Where are the magic sewing fairies when you need them?

Calling all Mummies!

So I have a dilemma. I'm trying to figure out which kind of diaper bag I want to make. I've bought 2 patterns but can't decide.
The first one is Sara's Aragon Bag.
I love this bag because it zips up - therefore keeping everything clean and contained. And I know how much care Sara takes writing her patterns - so I know it's been checked and will be easy to follow for my poor exhausted baby brain.

Or - do I choose this one, the Craft Apple Diaper Bag
I love the phone pouch. And it looks really easy = fast. Easy to throw things in and dig things out.

So this is where you step in. Since I've been so out of practise for so long.
What is important in a diaper bag? What couldn't you live without? Or simply - which one do you think will better suit the job?

Please help. I'm stuck! And I am getting bigger quickly - pretty soon I won't fit behind my sewing machine!

Slowly

Slowly starting to feel like we are getting organised around here.
I got rid of my car over the weekend and picked up a new (old) one.
It's so cute and I love it. Just needs a bit of mechanical work which it will get this week.

I've got plans this week to make a diaper bag. I've bought 2 patterns but can't quite decide on which one I think would suit me better. Although I have settled on fabric so there's half the battle sorted.

Whatever you are doing - have a fabulous week!

AMH Quickchange trousers

Last weekend I pulled my tracing paper and traced 3 patterns.
Then I pulled out some fabric and started with Anna Maria Horners Quickchange trousers from her Handmade Beginnings book.
Things quickly went sour when I got to the waistband and couldn't, for the life of me, figure out the pattern. Total baby brain, I think.
Fast forward a couple a days - and I found the answer on Flickr.
Noting it here so I don't forget......to insert the elastic, you need to slide it between the layers up through the leg. Of course, so simple!!!
So I finally got them finished this morning.
Can't you just imagine a cute little baby butt in them.
I need to make a boy pair as well - just in case!
