Stalled

This week has been a no sew week. I haven't been near my machine at all :o(
Sitting in my unfinished pile is the placemat tops. Need to get more fabric for the back of them.
They are very simple - and possibly a little on the large side. I am planning to quilt them in the silver metallic thread I bought. I just wanted them to complement my table runner and not compete with it.
And these notebook covers are done - except for the buttons on the front. Aarrggh! I hate hand sewing. I guess that explains why they are not finished yet!
I got this book in the mail this week. I am definitely going to make some things from it. So so cute!
Hopefully I can get back on track with my sewing this week. As it is getting hotter it's making it harder for me to be in my sewing room. Feeling glad I started my Christmas sewing as early as I have!

Have a great weekend!

Craft & Quilt Fair

Today my Mum and I had a girls day out at the Craft & Quilt Fair. Can you believe I took no pics. None!
But I did get some of my loot.

Some metallic thread, glitter pens, bias tape makers and some wonder clips.
Also sat down to a little tag class. Made 2 of them at the Scrapmatts stands. That's what sold me on the pens. I loved them.
I got a demo of a horn sewing table. Very very nice. Me likey alot!
There were some breathtaking quilts on display. Truly amazing!
Had a great day. Long & hot. But a really good day.
Hope you are having a fantastic weekend too!

AMH Multi-tasker tote

 I finished the bag. Woohoo!!
I followed the pattern with a few adjustments. I used heavy interfacing on all the pieces (except the straps) and I lined and interfaced the pocket too. I also added a magnetic snap - but I did it after the bag was made and oopsy - it doesn't line up. That's ok, I can live with it. I just have to remember that if I make another one.
I love the size of this one. It's substantial although not as big as Amy Butlers Spice Market tote.
I probably made a mistake with the interfacing - and if doing if again, I would still use heavy, but only line the exterior pieces. Hopefully it will soften over time and use.

I didn't get my skirt cut out yesterday, so today I am finishing the placemat tops. Along with some serious baking. I have a few kilos of bananas that need using!

Have a happy day,

Almost

Monday & Tuesday were set aside to complete a bag. (I decided on the multi-tasker tote - as the other one needed my overlocker to be working and I cannot for the life of me, figure it out)
So Monday I cut it out - nice and cruisy.
Yesterday I started sewing. Then my time got interrupted with having to drop a car somewhere, and picking up the kids and somehow we ended up shopping. I did get some perfume ;o)
I got a package and I haven't even had time to open it yet. And my bag is just metres away, almost done.
SO today the plan is to finish the bag and cut the pieces for my skirt. There is alot so I may not get done but I will give it my best.
All in all - I'm just a little off track with my sewing plans this week.
So it's still looking alright.
Hope you have a happy day

Happy Monday

Yesterday -I finally got the little zipper pouches done that Mum wanted. I used this tutorial.
That's all my jobs finished for other people and now I can get back on track with the things I want to finish.

So today I am starting on a bag. Yes, another bag. Either Anna Maria's Multi tasker tote - for me for the weekend. Or Studio Cherie's Duffle bag - which is for hubby for Christmas. Decisions, decisions.
I think I'll probably do hubby's because at least I have his fabric picked out. For mine, I still need to pick 2 more. I think I'll be umming and ahhing over that choice for a while.

Have a Happy Monday

Hooray a finish

So the torture continued.
I managed to finish the pouch. Hooray you might think. Oh yes, so did I.
Then I went to take a pic inside - and the zip crumbled in my hands. Destroyed.
I gave up there and then. I couldn't take any more failure.
Yesterday I went to sew with my friend and nervously finished another pouch. No breakages. Finally.

So today I braved making another Spice Market tote. Surprise. A finish. Starting to feel the mojo coming back.
I used some heavy interfacing on this one. I wanted it thick and sturdy.
About time, I say. Now I can get back to sewing and knocking some things off my to do list.
Since this week I only managed one.
I think I need to re write that list.

Hope you are having a beautiful weekend

Fail

So I started out Monday with very good intentions. I got straight to cutting & sewing. I made 9 list takers instead of 4. But I got stuck at the end as I don't have the correct size note pads. And I need a water soluble pen.
So I have them ordered and I packed away the list takers.
Then Tuesday I tried to make the coin purses that mum wants. I bought a pattern but there is about 30 pieces to it. Um no. Not for 6 of them thanks.
So I tried the little pattern Mum wanted. It was the most terrible finish you've ever seen.

So I quit for the day, made pizza and relaxed with the kids.
Yesterday I came up with a plan B. I found a tutorial and tried it out. I messed it up. But it is easy enough to have another go at it. This one didn't get thrown across the room!
I should have moved onto pouches today but my sweet girl needs a bag for gym. So she raided my Field Study stash last night and chose these.
SO today I am trying to make the bag - I'm going to make Amy Butlers Spice Market tote bag, and the big pouches for Christmas. I only have to do 2. And bake some muffins for hubby. And I'll save the pouches for tomorrow when I have a free day as I teach my friend to sew every Friday.
Crossing my fingers for a bit more success today.

The plan

So yesterday I made a plan of all the sewing I need to do in the next 3 weeks. Woah!
November will be for me to take my time on some other things like my Christmas dress. And any last minute ideas that I have.
But oh yeah - that Sunday at the top of the list was yesterday. Already behind. Ended up ditching the list and headed to the beach with the kids on our last day of school holidays instead.
So today it's back to the early morning routine and playing catch up on my list. As soon as I drop the kids off at school this morning I am getting straight into it. I did manage most of the cutting yesterday. Just a little more to go before I can start sewing.
Hoping to have a very productive day with no interruptions.

How about you? What are your plans for October?

Job 1 done - 1 to go

Today I finished off a job for a friend. She wanted 4 crayon cases.

They were not without problems - which were totally due to the fact that I had 9 hours sleep over 3 days and was exhausted. Note to self - DO NOT SEW WHEN TIRED!!
So glad they are all done and ready to be sent off to their new home.
Also on the sewing front - I replaced my elephant pin cushion today. I used Heather Bailey's Square Deal pincushion pattern
It turned out a bit funky but it'll do. It was so hot today - I don't think I could concentrate properly.
If it cools down over the weekend I might make a start on my Multi tasker tote. I'm pretty excited to make this one. It looks fabulous!

Better go and start cooking. Got much to do tonight.
Have a fabulous Friday!

Christmas drawstring bags

Yesterday I made the yummiest blueberry tea cake. It was oh so good.
And I sewed up 4 drawstring bags using my leftover Christmas fabric from last year. The only thing I purchased was the gold ribbon - which I need more of, so that's why you only see 3 of the bags.
Got an order for some crayon cases so I'm currently working on those.
They are due Friday. Then I'm going to start on some list takers. I am almost completely done on my Christmas sewing. And it feels great!
Hope you are having a productive week too!
