Cherry Christmas table runner

I finished off the Christmas table runner.
And backed it with the sweet clothesline fabric.
I didn't get started on the placemats yet as I didn't get enough backing for them.  So they'll have to wait.
Also ran out of thread - so need to restock!
I think next up I'll get started on the Christmas drawstring bags. I've got some fabric leftover from last year that will do for them.

What's next on your to do list?

Working on

Last night my sweet girl helped me rearrange my sewing area.
So I sewed up the top of my Christmas table runner this morning.
Hope to get it finished tomorrow - and get started on the placemats too.
I am beginning to feel quite organised for Christmas this year. If I can keep knocking things out every week - I'll be well and truly done by December, I think!
That'll be a first!

Delivery day

I love when mail comes earlier than expected. I received my Christmas stuff today.
I ordered some Cherry Christmas Charm packs to make a new table runner & placemats..
along with some yardage for the backs.
Some Field Study for a new bag for myself.
And some Michael Miller Hearts because I only just discovered them and I think they are so so sweet.

And from Pink Door Fabrics I got 2 new patterns

I'm not sure what I want to start with.
What's on your to do list this week? Are you getting organised for Christmas?

Have a great week -

Art Student tote..again

Also known as - Christmas present 1 struck off the list. Going well so far!

I had it all cut during the week - but only got to sewing it up yesterday.
I used Amy Butlers Cameo. I made version A this time.
Which meant no zip and extender - and a magnetic closure.
And being that it's for my mums laptop - I made big pockets so she can fit her cables in.
I also used Pellon Decor Bond and batting to help provide more protection for laptop. Hopefully it's enough.

Now I just have to hide it until Christmas!

Christmas plans

Christmas is coming around again so soon. Last year I was madly sewing on Christmas Eve while trying to cook things for the next day. Not happening this year!
I put in a little order at Hawthorne Threads to get me started.

I bought some Cameo to make a laptop bag for my Mum. I'm thinking of making Anna Maria Horners Art Student tote with thicker interfacing to give it a bit more protection. Or perhaps Amy Butlers Spice Tote.

And the feathers from Field Study are possibly going to be used in the makings of this dress. Maybe my Christmas dress this year? What do you think?
I'm also planning a table runner & new placemats for Christmas. Along with some drawstring bags, some art journal covers, a pocket pillow, new jammies & stockings for everyone and a duffle bag for the hubby.
Just saying that out loud makes me think I should have started in January. If I aim for 1 or 2 things a week - I should be fine. I hope!

Are you making anything for Christmas? Do you like to give Handmade?

Amy Butler Honey Bun Pouf

And I'm finally done. Well, I was yesterday but I needed to go get even more beans. It took 2.5 bags.
 And 13 hours to make.
It felt reminiscent of the Weekender bag - not sure if it's because I used the same fabrics, the volume of cutting or the awkwardness of the sewing. I really didn't find it fun. Possibly because I had to do the zipper twice and even now it's still not how I'd like it.
I have enough fabric leftover to make another one - but I don't think I will.  At least not anytime soon.
But I do love it.
And so does Violet.  She already claimed it last night before I had a chance to fill it with more beans.

Sunday 16 September 2012

It went like this...

Yesterday I woke up with the urge to sew. So I grabbed this bundle of fabrics off the shelf (where they have been sitting waiting since January). And decided on making Amy Butlers Honey Bun Pouf.
I cut & cut and cut some more.
My little apprentice helped keep count of where I was up to.
And then I sewed & sewed and sewed some more.
And by then she was over it - and passed out at my feet.
I totally underestimated how much time it would take. I was thinking I'd have it done yesterday. Nope. But I did get one side done.
Off to a party today. And tomorrow is groceries & cooking. So if I can get a couple hours here and there I may just be able to get it finished by Tuesday.

What's on your to do list today?

Crayon Folio

On Tuesday I made a little Crayon Folio to go along with the pants. I finally found some crayons yesterday to put in there.
It's so little & cute. I just need to put some stickers and paper in the other side. Hope he likes it.

I used this pattern

Bits & pieces

This week has been a little of this & that.
A bit of cooking. Just made some muesli bars for school.
A bit of sewing. I made a crayon case for the little man aswell. But do you think I can find any crayons? No. Off to hunt some down today!! Then I can get a pic. That is of course, if I can get my camera back.
A bit of shopping. This book.
Oh my gosh! If you love Heather Ross - and really, who doesn't - you need to have it. Totally completely awesome!
I've also ordered & bought some things to complete the projects that have been lying around here for the longest time. Feeling the need to catch up and organise. The long awaited Honeybun pouf shall be made!!
Hopefully.....
And I've also ordered the multi-tasker tote pattern. Definitely going to use some of my field study on it. I'm thinking either the orange feathers or the butterflies. Yum!
Also my sweet first born got his learners license yesterday. I was so excited and proud of him - I could have burst! He's going driving with his daddy this weekend. So exciting.
I got my license when he was in my tummy. Ok - now I feel old!!
So today - more cooking. Tomorrow - some pattern cutting. Then off to teach my friend to sew on Friday. Looking forward to some girl time. And the little mans party on Sunday. Two is such a cute cute age.

I'll be back later with the crayon case.
Have a happy day

Bungle Jungle pants

Today I stopped procrastinating and finally made the pants. They were so quick I don't know why I didn't just do them last week. I used Bungle Jungle. This was my favourite paper line from Sassafras so I was super happy to see it in fabric. I don't know which side I like more.
I think they are both pretty cute.
These are for my Great nephews birthday on Sunday. I am going to try and make him a lunch box too if I get time. You know, amongst the million other things I'm trying to do this week. Well, at least that is another thing off the list ;o)

Fabric from here
Pattern from here

Hope your day is a productive one too

Scrapping?

So the minute that I need to start organising my stuff to get rid of - is the minute that I feel like scrapping again. Go figure.
Just trying to get through the little stack of pics that I have on my table.
Sorry about the iphone pics - my son has pinched my camera.
Had to stop scrapping as I've run out of adhesive.
Will try and sort all the goodies out this week. Need to get some boxes and find out shipping prices & weights & things. Fun stuff. Totally need a helper. Hope to get it done this coming week. So stay tuned.
Have a happy weekend. I need to seriously think about making these pants. Hmmm.
Maybe I should get out of my jammies first ;o)

Little progress

I have got fabric piling up over my dining chairs. From the left is my Queen backing - I have the front & the batting - I just can't baste it on my own. It's massive. I'm intimidated.
Then in the centre is the fabric for two skirts - not even halfway cut out yet.
Then on the right is 2 dresses and a top. Only the denim has been cut out for them all.
And I have a pair of little boy pants that truly need to be made. Haven't gone anywhere near that fabric yet.
So my plan today is to just get everything cut out - and out of my dining room, so that at least when I have the time to sew, I can just do it.
Wish I had some little helper elves ;o)

Oh and hubby has told me I have to get rid of my scrapping stuff. Of which I have a ton. So check back - I may have something you'd be interested in. Lots of SC kits & stamps & punches and bits.

Have a fabulous Friday.

Juice Boxes in Cameo

Hooray. I finished! I just seemed to struggle with getting this one done.
Maybe it was because it's my first customer job. Maybe it's because I just have a ton of other stuff that needs doing.
It's in the wash now. Ready to be sent off tomorrow. I used the Juice Boxes pattern by Cluck Cluck Sew.

Next up -3 dresses, a skirt and a top - and some little person pants.

Hope you are having a lovely weekend
