Quilty bits

So this morning I have spent quilting this baby quilt. I've finished now. Just need to bind it.
I've also received the fabric to make the birthday boys pants. Which I only took out of the box a few minutes ago. It has been a crazy week.
Don't you think this will make the cutest little pair of boy pants ever!
So sweet. I love those little elephants.
I really need to get sewing - my dining room looks like the project runway workroom!! I've got pattern pieces cut and hanging over every chair.

I just did my groceries. I am seriously loving the whole online grocery thing. Totally works for me.
On the menu this week:
Sat- BBQ (I'm making potato salad)
Sun - Satay Chicken with pineapple salad and making Choc Orange flourless cake for Fathers Day
Mon - Leftovers from this week
Tue - Chicken burritos
Wed - Sweet & Sour pork
Thur - Vege soup
Friday - Pizza night

So this weekend - it'll be nothing but sewing, cooking and dishes.
But really - would I want to do anything else? Nope. I love my life ;o)

Have a wonderful weekend -

In the box

I finished the quilt top yesterday. And instead of making the back what did I do? I opened the box!
Yummy yummy yummy!
I got some of  Pat Bravos Indie. Loving the colours. Gorgeous!
And some of Anna Maria Horners Field Study. Love the orange feathers and the dramatic butterflies. Super yum.
And some older Amy Butler. This was purchased specifically for a handbag.

Had a very productive day yesterday. I tried out online grocery ordering. It is definitely for me. I got them delivered at 7:15am. So I cut all the meat for the week. Make chilli con carne to go in the slow cooker this morning. Cooked the rice for last nights Chicken Fried rice.
I also baked a loaf of Apple, Cranberry & Almond Bread.
I sliced it up and put it in the fridge ready to be toasted for breakfast this week.
All up it only took a few hours and now I am really organised for my week.
Twice this week I am baking my own bread. Bit nervous. I don't really have the touch. But I guess I'll only get better with practice.

Have a happy week xxx

Work in progress - and no reward until I finish

Yesterday I had planned to sew all day and get the quilt done. But no - had to go out to run a work errand. So that cost me a few hours.
But here's where I'm at so far.
I have finished cutting. Now I need to sew everything together. Which will probably take up my whole day today.
In the meantime I have some really yummy things in here (which Violet is doing such a good job of taking care of it for me) -
And I am not allowing myself to open it until I've finished.
Now I really must go and get some sewing done ;o)

Have a Happy Thursday

On hold and a delivery

This week was meant to be skirt making - but I'm temporarily on hold as I forgot to get a few notions. So while I wait for it to arrive - and perfect timing that my parcel arrived today - I have an order for a baby quilt. So I'm going to try and get the cutting done tomorrow, the quilting on Thursday and post it off on Friday. I could be wishful thinking there.
Anyway onto my package. I bought these 3 patterns.
Some Amy Butler Cameo for the baby quilt. With some extra 'Hopscotch in Lake' destined to be a dress.
And some more Birds and the bees. Bought because I love it. Not for anything I have planned yet. But I really love the whole collection. I want to stash it all!!!

Anyway - better go and get started on dinner, have to head back to school with my girl and her BF tonight for subject selection. So no playing with fabric for me just yet :o(

Hope you having a Happy Tuesday

Colette Sorbetto Top

I woke up this morning and knew I had to get to my sewing table and put my foot down.
I cut out my pattern and went to work.
It didn't take long. But then I found out I didn't get the right bias binding - and I didn't have enough fabric left to make my own. So I ran down to Spotlight to see what I could find. I ended up going with a navy.
I made 3 mistakes. I didn't finish the edges - so I tried to zig zag them after and I cut a hole in the back of my top. Eeeek!!!
And I had to unpick the hem and re sew it.
And I didn't try it on for size - at all. I was just trying to get it done. So it's a bit off in the chest and armpit area.
I'd probably wear it under a cardigan anyway so that's ok.
But what do I do about the hole in the back????
That'll teach me for leaving it all till the end of the week.
If you want to make one for yourself - you can find the free download here.
Ok. Now onto the skirt.

Bookworm

Got a couple of parcels this week. All of the booky kind. Waiting for 2 boxes of fabric to arrive - but they are nowhere to be found. Not good!!
Ok. So I bought:
Very good book. Very very good! Will be much used.
Lots of basic cakes.
A quilty book. Woohoo!! Another baking book. Coz I love to bake. And Hugh's Veg book. There shall be some happy times in my kitchen.
And in other news we are looking to adopt an English Bulldog. I wonder how these two are going to cope?
It was the worst time for me when we brought Violet (my tabby cat) home. Dash absolutely hated her. For the most part they tolerate each other but do still have their spats now and again. I'm kinda scared to do it again. It was so stressful. We may delay it until we move into our own house. Not 100% decided yet.

I have completely neglected class this week. And I feel so behind. So my plan this weekend is to play catch up. I'll have to start and finish the top tomorrow.  Wish me luck. I'll need it!!

Have a fabulous weekend -

Scraps and plans

I made a pouch from my bag scraps today using this pattern by Elizabeth Hartman.

I also got some deliveries:
Some kits and patterns from Sweetwater
And some gorgeous Melody Miller typewriter fabric from Frances of Miss Matatabi.
I have been looking for them for so long. I got 3 half yards.
Yummo!
Tomorrow I am definitely going to start on my homework for my top. I mustn't get behind. And possibly work on another project on my to do list.

What are your plans this week?

Monday

So I finished the placemats yesterday. They are pretty cute.
I made 2 in the navy -
And 2 in the lighter blue plaid
I wish I had some more of this fabric. I'd love to make pyjamas in it!

So far today I have made pizza scrolls, made muesli bars, made marinade for the satay chicken we are having tonight and roasted peanuts for the sauce too. Nothing but cooking and dishes!!
Now it's time to pick up the kids.
Starting on my shirt tomorrow. Excited!!
And Big Brother and Underbelly are back on tonight. Super Excited!!

Hope you are having a good start to your week xxx

Something new & a redo

The redo - It was driving me nuts - so I just had to do it. I topstitched through both the bag & the extender panel & the handles. It feels much more finished to me and I absolutely adore it.

And something new -
Today I'm working on the lunch mats. Maybe if I finish them I can do the cutting for my next project. I just haven't decided what it should be yet.

Have a happy Sunday.

Anna Maria Horner Art Student Tote

I finally finished. I had to stop and take a trip to Spotlight to grab a magnetic snap. Once I was home it only took another hour and ta da!!
I used Tula Pink's The Birds and the Bees Collection. I chose to do the full size tote with the extension panel.

I struggled a bit to decipher the instructions. I would have liked more diagrams. But it turned out ok. If I could do it again I'd use heavier interfacing as I don't really like floppy bags and I'd also like to topstitch the top of the bag.
But other than that, I love it.
And I can happily strike another project off the list ;o)
If I keep going like this - I may just finish it all before Christmas!!

Work in progress

I was aiming to get it all done today but I failed.
I did get all the pieces cut out.
And I made the pockets
I did finish the d-rings. And I'm hoping to complete the straps tonight.
Then I'll save the rest for tomorrow.
I can't wait to finish it. I love it already!!

Reversible Poofy pants

Today was the day to get them done. I've had the pieces cut for a few weeks now. I bought the pattern here.
I think these ones are my favourite.
They have green stars on the inside.
Then these ones are flanelette. Snuggly & warm.
With cute buttons on the inside (which I cut upside down. Sshh)
And little happy bear ones.
With more happy bears on the inside.
Now I can happily start on the next thing and strike these off the to do list. 1 down, 50 million to go.

It's all here

With the arrival of my postman this morning - I now have in my hands the last of the items I needed for class. Plus the bag pattern.
The Amy Butler Cameo voile is so deliciously soft and yummy. It's going to be for my tank top.

And thankfully the jacket pattern arrived too. Talk about great timing. Class starts today.

I caught hubby's cold and have been sick all last week. Went to bed at 6:30pm last night and slept for 12 hours. Only woke up because my alarm went off. So hoping to get better and back into sewing. It's putting me behind on everything.

My to do list is getting longer all the time. I think part of the reason is I don't have everything I need to complete things. Like the duffel bag - I need 8oz batting and 3.5 inch jute webbing, and I haven't found any of it yet.
I think I need to start knocking the small things off the list first. Going to try and at least finish 1 pair of pants today. Wish me luck!!
