Nesting Fabric Bowls Pattern by Nova

I was so excited to hear that the lovely Nova had another pattern in the works. As soon as it was released this morning, I snatched it up and went to work.
I made a little mistake (totally my fault) with the placement of my fabric. I meant to have it going horizontal. Oops! But I love it anyway.
I've only made one so far. And it was the largest one. It's the perfect size to hold my unfinished projects.
I totally need some more interfacing.......already itching to make some more.

Have a Happy Friday

Hello...again!

So in the past 2ish weeks -
I picked up this quilt again - got in the zone - and then ran out of thread. What are the odds?
Only just got some more, so I'm planning on picking it back up today.
Have been enjoying a new delicious brekky. Baked spinach, eggs and fetta. Mmm.
And this yoghurt. Even though it's twice as many calories as my old one - it is more than twice as delicious. Yum!!
And a new polish - OPI Teenage Dream. Two of my favourite things - pink & glitter! I love the way it sparkles. Obviously much better in real life.

Finishing up my coffee and off to the sewing machine.
Have a fabulous day

The view from here

I am at my desk today. Totally procrastinating. Have got absolutely nothing done. So many things I want to do - yet haven't started any of them.
As I sit here - this is what I see:
Directly in front of my table is Violet on the ironing board. I so need to clean my iron. What do you use to get sticky glue off??
Then to my right is Dash. Asleep on top of the cat scratching post. He'll stay there until dinner time.
And on my desk, a few fabrics I pulled out to make a bag. Have I started cutting them? Nope. Not even close.

Finding it really hard to get motivated. Maybe if I make little goals - then something will get done.
At least I've done the washing ;o)

Have a Happy Weekend

New patterns

Today I'm in my happy place. I've taken some Cold & Flu tablets and they are working. I've got my music cranking and some new patterns to try, which I am really excited about.
First up is an awesome duffle bag. Perfect for travelling. You can find it here along with Cherie's other fabulous patterns.
And after using my Spice Market tote at the markets the other day I realised I need something a little smaller as it almost got too heavy to carry once it was full. So I'm going to make a few of these Jane Market totes and see if they work better for my needs.
And a little scrapping. Nothing fancy. But an important story I need to remember. Still using my Summer Camp kit. I think I bought every add on with it and there is still tons left to use. I don't think I will ever use up my pile of kits!!

Nearly time to do the school run.
Hope you are having a fabulous Monday xxx

Banana Muffins

My mum came round and took the kids to see Journey 2: The mysterious Island in 3d today, so I spent some time baking. I made 2 batches of muffins as I had a heap of overripe bananas to use up.
I didn't get a good pic as I already wrapped them and stuck them in the freezers for the kids lunch boxes.
They were nice and somewhat healthy, so I thought I'd post both of the recipes I used. Both recipes I found at www.taste.com.au
Banana and Rolled Oat muffins (I worked these out to be 255 calories)

Ingredients:
  • 2 cups (260g) self-raising flour
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp bicarbonate of soda
  • 1 cup (100g) rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup (100g) brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 cup (185g) plain no-fat yoghurt
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) canola oil
  • 2 bananas, mashed (250g)
 Method:

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C. Line a 12 cup muffin pan with paper cases.
  2. Sift flour, cinnamon and soda into a bowl. Empty the flour husks from the sifter back into the bowl along with the oats and brown sugar, and stir to combine.
  3. Whisk eggs, yoghurt and oil together. Add banana and stir to combine. Pour into dry ingredients and mix together using a wooden spoon until just combined. Mixture may be lumpy and does not have to be evenly mixed.
  4. Spoon mixture into paper cases. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden and cooked through. Cool for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Banana Honey muffins  (I worked these out to be 206 calories)

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup wholemeal self-raising flour
  • 1 cup self-raising flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup raw sugar
  • 1/2 cup desiccated coconut
  • 1 cup mashed banana
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup extra-light olive oil
  • 2 eggs, lightly whisked
Method:
  1. Preheat oven to 200°C. Lightly grease a 12-hole 1/3-cup capacity muffin pan.
  2. Sift flours, baking powder and cinnamon into a bowl. Stir in sugar and desiccated coconut. Make a well in the centre.
  3. Whisk banana, 1/4 cup honey, oil, egg and yoghurt in a jug. Pour into well. Gently fold until just combined. Three-quarter fill muffin holes with mixture. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean. Stand for 5 minutes in pan. Turn onto a wire rack to cool completely.

I feel like I'm coming down with a cold this afternoon. Glad I'm only making pizza tonight - so it'll be quick & easy dinner. And early to bed.

Hope you are having a relaxing Sunday

Market morning

Today I headed off to the Farmers Markets to get our fruit & veges for the week. As I was leaving I spotted some chickens for sale - but I know hubby wants to fix up the pen first, so I didn't come home with any.
I scrapped last night. I have alot to catch up on! Still haven't found my groove yet.
I used an old Studio Calico kit - Summer Camp.
I think I may go back to some sketches. I think I work better if I have a starting point. Or else I end up with boring, boring pages.
Have a happy weekend,

Inspiration overload

A few months ago I preordered a book by Tula Pink. You know, the amazing designer that created the fabric that I used in my daughters quilt & pocket pillow.
Yesterday, it arrived.
First of all - I almost didn't want to open it - the label was so cute. I am a sucker for cute packaging.
And when I finally did open it - (after saving the awesome label), I pulled out this beautiful book.
From cover to cover - it is amazing. I couldn't get enough. My mind was swirling with ideas instantly. Best money I have spent in ages. Tula's mind is just creative genius.
There's plenty of quilts to try plus cushions and other bits.
If you only buy one sewing book this year - I'd recommend it be this one!
I abolutely love it.
Now my fingers are really itching to start something.

Making a difference

So today was weigh in day for 12wbt. And to date I have lost 4.2kg. Go me. And now I am only about 5kg away from having a healthy BMI. Awesome.
My morning snack is usually always this peach & mango yoghurt. It's my favourite.
And this is my favourite pizza - Ricotta, prosciutto, tomato & rocket. So yummy.

Yesterday I got some new Lock & Lock containers, so I sorted out my cupboard shelf. Only 5 more to go.

I've got itchy fingers and have the need to make something. Can't decide what though. Guess I better finish that little quilt. If I don't start now it'll never get done. Ok. Off to do it!

Have a Happy Wednesday!!

Sunday 4 March 2012

Right now

Feeling so full from dinner. Meatballs with pasta & spinach.

Pondering the HCG protocol. Don't know if I'm crazy enough to actually do it.

Missing the Biggest Loser and My Kitchen Rules. Sunday night sucks for tv. There is absolutely nothing on!!

Hoping the mechanic can fix my car on Tuesday. (Better clean it out tomorrow)

Wishing the weekend was longer.

Planning an early night so I can get up in the morning.

What's going on in your head today?

Saturday 3 March 2012

I wouldn't make it as a farmer

In the early hours of this morning, a fox broke in and killed our chickens. All 3 of them. It was so horrible. My poor girls.

I keep looking outside to check on them in the rain, and then I remember they are gone. I think my daughter has taken it the hardest. They loved her. And she loved them back.
It's a sad day :o(

Friday 2 March 2012

I scrapped

Are you as shocked as me?
I printed a stack of pics yesterday. Cleared a little space on my desk today - and just did it.
Not highly impressed with my efforts. But - a page is a page.
I grabbed one of my zillion kits to use. It was Summer Camp. There is some really cute papers in it. Can't wait to do a girl page.

Have a fabulous weekend. I might hang out in my scrap room a little longer.

Struggling

Struggling with things lately.......but some kind words from my best friend who knows me well, has turned things around. Feeling so lucky that I have someone who can do this for me.

Struggling to exercise.....but I am determined to do better.

Still struggling with that little quilt.....but I will finish it. All it takes is a new view from different eyes to see that I clearly make things harder for myself. And I really don't need to.

Struggling with the new school routine....need to learn to go to bed earlier, then perhaps my mornings would be easier.

And on the plus side:

Eating well. No cheating. Honestly not finding it as hard as I did last time.

Planning on scrapping today. It's been so long. Better print some photos and see what I come up with. If I start using up my stash - then I've got a good reason to get more. And there's nothing that makes me happier than scrap shopping ;o)

Have a Happy Thursday,
